AEW: 5 recent WWE releases we’d love to see in All Elite Wrestling
Rusev
Truth be told, Handsome Rusev has potential to become a big star wherever he decides to go. An argument can be made for him currently being the hottest free agent in professional wrestling right now, as he could easily become a main eventer anywhere he decided to go.
It’s hard to imagine a place where Rusev would not succeed in his post-WWE career. As NWA Champion Nick Aldis recently expressed, he’d be a shoe-in for the National Wrestling Alliance. He’d stack right up there standing next to the likes of Tomohiro Ishii in New Japan Pro Wrestling. A tear on the indy circuit would be fun for him.
But above all else, a man of this magnitude deserves to bring his talents to the biggest stage imaginable and apart from WWE, AEW offers such a stage with worldwide appeal and attention. As stellar in the ring as he is with a character he was able to constantly evolve over time (along with making any storyline, no matter how silly, become entertaining), there is no doubt in my mind that Rusev would become a bonafide headliner in AEW.
Hopefully, AEW think the same and offer him a contract sooner rather than later, before someone else does. Don’t expect Rusev to be a free agent for too long.
