5 Post-WWE Matches for Drew Gulak
By Bryan Heaton
Last week, news broke that Drew Gulak was a free agent after his WWE contract expired. With Gulak hitting the open market, here are five matches we’d love to see get booked.
In a bit of surprising news, Drew Gulak saw his time with WWE come to an unceremonious end last week when his contract expired. There hasn’t been anything official from either side as of yet, but Gulak’s profile on WWE’s official website has moved to the Alumni section. Everything else is just speculation at this point.
Still, it’s kind of surprising that Gulak is moving on from WWE. He has spent the past few months as the “training partner” of Daniel Bryan, arguably one of the biggest stars in the company. The pair have demonstrated their affinity and prowess in technical wrestling, including a fine match on the May 15 episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
The added shine on Drew Gulak from the program with Bryan can only be beneficial moving forward. While the global pandemic has limited the number of places a wrestler can work right now, Gulak should be able to land on his feet fairly quickly. (And not just because of his former catchphrase, “Feet on the ground, safe and sound!”)
The most likely destination for Gulak at the present would have to be All Elite Wrestling, simply because they’re one of the few promotions currently running shows. But rumored bad blood with Cody might make that a difficulty (for the record, I think that has been overblown, but who knows). But there’s a bunch of great matches lined up out there for a guy like Gulak.
Without further ado, here are five possible post-WWE matches for Drew Gulak.
