Eddie Kingston

Let’s say Drew Gulak takes his talents to NWA. There’s no shortage of great wrestlers that he could lock up with. But, to me, none would be more intriguing than Eddie Kingston.

Gulak and Kingston are no strangers – both spent considerable time early in their careers with CHIKARA and CZW. Even with all the overlap, though, they’ve only had two matches against each other – a triple threat tag match in 2005 (won by Kingston’s squad) and a singles bout in 2015 (again, Kingston was victorious).

A lot can change in five years, though. Kingston spent some time on national television with Impact, reaching a new audience who appreciated his hard hitting style and his unmatched promo skills. And we all know Gulak went from 205 Live/NXT on to SmackDown, getting television time on a major broadcast network while teaming with Daniel Bryan.

Imagine if the two were to meet again today. Eddie Kingston is killing it on Powerrr, and his style would mesh well with the technical abilities of Gulak. Kingston is the kind of wrestler who can really sell being wrapped into a pretzel by a submission wizard, which would make Gulak look like a million bucks.

And how about Gulak taking a beating from the stiff-looking offense Kingston is known for? Gulak is no slouch when it comes to working with a striker. Look at the matches he had with Shinsuke Nakamura during his run on SmackDown. A seasoned veteran like Drew Gulak knows exactly how to take a vicious strike, like Kingston’s Backfist to the Future.
