Jeff Cobb

Jeff Cobb is another wrestler who we have not seen on AEW TV in a really long time, although he has a slightly more unique case. Originally brought in as a quote-on-quote “mercenary” who wrestled Jon Moxley on behalf of then-World Champion Chris Jericho and The Inner Circle, it appeared as though Cobb’s only AEW match vs. Mox was meant to merely be a one-off.

After all, he is signed to Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling (with some flexibility to take one-off bookings, like the AEW one), but with both ROH and NJPW currently taking time off until the worldwide novel coronavirus pandemic lightens up, there now leaves an opportunity for Cobb’s contracts to get a little bit more flexible.

Since he can’t work either promotion right now, surely, neither ROH or NJPW should mind.

This could serve as yet another one-off appearance for Cobb (just filling out the spot for the PPV) or AEW could go all the way and dub Cobb the winner of the match. Especially with the number one contendership on the line, Cobb has an opportunity to get a rematch against the man who beat him in his sole AEW match: Jon Moxley. This time, with the AEW World Championship on the line.
