Andrade (c) vs. Apollo Crews [United States Championship]

Last week on Monday Night Raw, Apollo Crews returned from storyline injury to battle Andrade and Angel Garza alongside Kevin Owens. He is now scheduled for a United States Championship match against Andrade on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

As is common with WWE booking, that title match will very likely be inconclusive and stretched to the WWE Backlash 2020 PPV. If that is the case, Apollo Crews should pick up the win here and win his first main roster championship.

There’s no point in taking away his MITB opportunity, booking him in a storyline injury after he failed to complete a United States Championship match against Andrade, and booking him to lose to Andrade upon his epic return. Too much sympathy has been built up for the babyface hero, Apollo Crews, for this title change to go to waste. Crews can’t lose.

Prediction: Apollo Crews

Daniel Bryan vs. AJ Styles [Intercontinental Championship]

Thanks to WWE stripping Sami Zayn of the Intercontinental Championship, the title is now vacant and there is a tournament being held to determine the new Intercontinental Champion each week on Friday Night SmackDown. As of this writing, Daniel Bryan, Jeff Hardy, Elias, and AJ Styles have all successfully advanced to the semifinals of the tournament.

Since Daniel Bryan is battling Jeff Hardy in the semifinals, Bryan will most likely come out with the victory. Not only must Daniel Bryan continue his journey to winning the Intercontinental Championship he never lost but also Jeff Hardy’s rival, Sheamus, will be looking for revenge from last week’s tournament defeat and could screw him in this match.

Since AJ Styles is battling Elias in the semifinals, AJ Styles will most likely come out with the victory. Not only must AJ Styles redeem himself from getting buried alive by The Undertaker by winning his first Intercontinental Championship but also Elias’ rival, King Corbin, will be looking for revenge from last week’s tournament defeat and could screw him in this match.

With that being said, it would be suitable if Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles ended up in the finals of this tournament at WWE Backlash 2020. Unlike Hardy and Elias, they have no current rivalries to worry about that could feasibly take place at this PPV.

Since AJ Styles recently got traded to Friday Night SmackDown and Daniel Bryan will have to leave soon for his newborn baby with Brie Bella in the summer, Styles should be the safe bet to make an impact in the house that he built as the new Intercontinental Champion.

Prediction: AJ Styles
