WWE: The 5 greatest Intercontinental Champions ever
The Miz
For many casual wrestling fans, The Miz is the wrong side of Marmite (look it up if you aren’t in the UK..!), but for the vast majority of those who follow the industry a little more passionately, he’s one of the most well-respected and admired performers of the modern era.
That’s mostly because, for many, many years now, Miz has shown up to show after show, television show after television show, and countless pay-per-views and put in a shift. Whether he’s antagonizing fans and opponents on the microphone or doing his thing in the squared circle, you can never argue that Miz doesn’t do his fair share of the grind.
The Intercontinental title is, therefore, probably a title better suited to Miz than any other Superstar in history. The workhorse with the workhorse’s title, right?
The stats speak for themselves. Miz has been trusted with the coveted Intercontinental title on eight occasions – and has racked up almost 600 combined days with the gold, a figure only bettered in the whole of the title’s history by Pedro Morales with 617.
It seems virtually inevitable that Miz will get at least one more run with the IC title before his in-ring days are up. As a result, we’ll most likely see Miz become the longest-reigning (accumulatively) Intercontinental Champion in WWE history. I can’t think of a better compliment for such a hard-working talent than that.
