Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler seems to be that go-to superstar to face when it comes to debuting talent and first-time programs, and it makes total sense why. He’s a veteran of sports entertainment and the WWE, but is certainly still riding a solid wave in terms of stamina and performance.

Is he over his so-called “peak?” Probably, but, Ziggler is still incredible in the ring, always puts on stellar matches, is great on the mic, and has a way of looking strong himself, while still helping to push his opponents over.

Dolph is the perfect superstar on the SmackDown roster to help Riddle get his feet wet on the blue brand via a first-time program, and depending on whether Matt will debut as face or heel, the potential for over-the-top promo banter between these two looks good.

At the end of the day, my first choice would be Dolph Ziggler because of the history he has with the company, the overall performance, the fact that he is a former WWE champion (plus, his other championship accolades within the company), and how he can possibly elevate Riddle during a feud to help springboard a successful NXT-to-SmackDown transition.

To me, Ziggler as a debut rival to Riddle just makes sense.
