The NXT Division Needs A Staple

A big problem with Charlotte Flair’s current title reign is simply that without having Flair’s feet planted squarely onto the NXT mat, it has made the NXT women’s division feel unfocused as of late. Outside of Flair’s next challengers, it is currently unclear which WWE Superstars are on the trajectory towards the main event picture title hunt and who aren’t. Everything seems scattered.

This isn’t Flair’s fault, nor is it even that of the NXT creative team. It’s a direct result of WWE’s decision scatter Flair out across all three brands. At risk of not overworking Flair too badly, WWE have opted not to have Flair appear on every show, and when she does, it may be in a brief promo or segment opposed to a match.

With a clear, consistent champion to focus on, the division is struggling to find a groove to speak of. To add some order back into the mix, the division needs a staple at the top of the division who is going to be based in NXT and only NXT.

At TakeOver, that option has to be Io Shirai or Rhea Ripley and because I feel like Shirai could benefit from a bit of a chase before winning the belt, I’ll go with Ripley on this one.
