Ranking The Top 5 Wrestling Video Games
By Grant Mannis
1. WWF: No Mercy
Arguably the greatest wrestling video game to ever be released, WWF No Mercy set the tone for quality. Released nearly twenty years ago, No Mercy still has a great level of replay value, thanks in large part to the level of unpredictability that constantly plays out on screen.
No matter how many times you play the game, something new and unexpected happens, with anything from match interference to the igniting of new feuds taking shape. For a game that lacked the level of technology that the titles today receive, this is an amazing achievement.
Like other games on this list, another way that WWF No Mercy shines is through the incredible level of customization it gives the player. Present-day superstars are constantly being created and added to the game by diehard fans, uniting more and more generations of wrestlers viewers.
With an easy to use control scheme and gameplay that made you feel as though you were actually inside the squared circle, No Mercy is a perfect example of how simplicity can sometimes pay off in a huge way. For those that haven’t tried this game yet, you should definitely take some time out of your day to enjoy this stroll down memory lane.
