Nia Jax wins the Raw Women’s Championship

Nia Jax seems to have taken a back seat in her own title feud, or at the very least has been overshadowed by other factors. Rather than talking about Jax’s chances of winning, we’ve talked about how Charlotte Flair could be Asuka’s next title opponent after Backlash, or the state of Kairi Sane’s injury during her match with Jax before it even aired.

Maybe it’s also telling that fans just don’t buy Jax as a believable challenger for Asuka in her first PPV title defense since winning the Raw Women’s Championship. People peg her as merely a stepping stone for a larger narrative or reign to come, but looks can be deceiving.

It would not be the first time that fans underestimated an unlikely challenger walking out as the winner. Examples like Zack Ryder’s Intercontinental Championship win, Sheamus’ first World Title win and of course Jinder Mahal’s WWE Championship win all spring to mind.

Tomorrow is a case where Asuka faces someone none of us expect her to lose to, but when anything can happen in WWE, the possibility is at least there dangling above our heads like a briefcase in the sky.

Whether we want to see it happen or not, don’t be surprised if WWE has a surprise in store for us for tomorrow’s Raw Women’s Championship match.
