WWE Backlash 2020: 5 bold predictions: Bayley turns on Sasha Banks
Bobby Lashley wins the WWE Championship
This match can only go one of two ways: either the two brawl to the point we get some kind of a draw (i.e. double countout, double DQ, No Contest) that sets the stage for a rematch at Extreme Rules, or Bobby Lashley gets a clean win in quick fashion.
It’s hard for me to imagine that Drew McIntyre just gets a clean win on Sunday after WWE have only been pushing Bobby Lashley for a month now. Especially since, to WWE’s credit, the rushed push is working. This is the best that Lashley has looked in recent memory and having MVP speak on his behalf as a manager has helped him look like a million bucks this whole time.
To just throw all of that away for a throw away title defense where McIntyre just wins clean is going to hurt Lashley in the long run. And even a no contest finish of some kind to progress the rivalry may not be the most ideal option, given how often we have seen such finishes lately.
Yes, McIntyre losing the title this soon after winning it at Mania is a bold choice – kind of the whole point of this slideshow, actually – but WWE don’t put the rocket straps on Lashley now, then when?
