While there has not been any mention of a call up from NXT, imagine the introduction it would be if Tommaso Ciampa appears on SmackDown to face Styles. Ciampa has the abilities both in and out of the ring to tell a worthy story with Styles in an extended feud.
While Ciampa is performing as a face of sorts, his best work was when he was a heel tormenting Johnny Gargano. It would be hard to introduce him as a heel against Styles, who is playing the same role, but this is where the shades of grey can come into play.
Wrestling angles do not need to be about “good versus bad” but rather two individuals looking to the best. Daniel Bryan and Drew Gulak gave us a taste of something similar in recent months where they put on instant classics against one another.

Ciampa vs. Styles would not be the exact same type of wrestling clinic, but it would still be entertaining to see how they would perform against one another with the title up for grabs.
