It’s all about Asuka

Asuka is the WWE Raw Women’s Champion after Becky Lynch, who had a historic, year-plus reign after winning the title to become double-champion in the first women’s WrestleMania main event in history. Following up Becky is no easy task, but the 2020 Women’s Money in the Bank winner is one of the few people who can carry that torch, even during a pandemic. After all, she’s been the MVP of the last couple of months.

What WWE needs to do is keep giving Asuka marquee victories. She didn’t even beat Nia Jax in her first PPV match as Raw Women’s Champion, and I get that they want to prolong the feud, but they’ve got to make sure they are booking The Empress strongly. Because she’s one of the very top wrestlers in the world. Moreover, they’ve already done wrong by her plenty of times in the past, despite her overall success and recognition.

Beating Charlotte Flair on WWE Raw, even if it’s not on PPV, would be a step in the right direction and a marquee victory for Asuka early in her reign, no doubt. They could have Nia interrupt the match to protect both women, and that’s probably what they’ll do. When it comes to big title matches on television, this is WWE’s “safe” strategy.

Don’t go safe here, though. Put some major faith in Asuka and have her defeat your most-crowned women’s champion. It’s worth it in the long run.
