Andrade and Angel Garza ran into some trouble on WWE Raw this week.

Ric Flair and Big Show were announced as special appearances on this week’s episode of WWE Raw, though that came as no surprise due to their involvement in the increasingly heated rivalry between Randy Orton and Edge.

Beyond them, wrestling fans have also been waiting in anticipation for the double contract signing for the WWE Championship and WWE Raw Women’s Championship matches. Asuka vs. Sasha Banks will surely be the show-stealer at Extreme Rules, while Drew McIntyre vs. Dolph Ziggler is a throwback rivalry to 2018.

Here are the full results, grades, and highlights from this week’s episode of WWE Raw.

Contract Signing

The contract signing segments started the show…well, technically a fierce brawl between Asuka and Sasha Banks did, with Bayley also involved. Samoa Joe could scarcely get a word in, when the brawl resumed briefly. And then when he tried to explain what was going on after referees briefly got things under control, Dolph Ziggler’s music hit.

Joe hilariously said, “Thank you for waiting for your introduction” to Ziggler, who then had his own introduction for Drew McIntyre, going along with his whole, “I made Drew McIntyre” self-aggrandizing nonsense he’s on.

Ziggler’s promos was as nonsensical, as he spoke in a low, gravely voice for the intensity of it. For a heel promo, it was perfectly grating, drawing a simple rise out of the chair from McIntyre, who referred to Ziggler’s ramblings as “passionate words”. McIntyre quipped that he’s learned wrestling is more mental than physical, reasoning that Ziggler needs to win the WWE Championship to finally be the center of attention. And he played into Ziggler’s history of always coming close, yet never truly ever being able to win the big one.

Better yet, McIntyre enabled Ziggler to pick the stipulation for Extreme Rules, and just when Ziggler was about to go on another speech, Asuka interrupted him then started yelling at Sasha Banks before signing the contract. Like the rest of us, she was also tired of Ziggler dragging on the proceedings.

Banks started to cut her promo on Asuka, stating that when she wins, she and Bayley will be taking over the whole damn company. And yes, Banks had a killer stamp!

Asuka heard enough, and another brawl broke loose. It nearly ended with Ziggler getting his head Claymored off, and all the heels had to retreat with McIntyre and Asuka in the ring.

Grade: A, This was an excellent segment. It leaves open the intrigue of Ziggler picking the stipulation, and the brawl to immediately start things off was excellent. They did a great job of getting past the boring brawl, tag match trope in the middle and end of the shows, and the heels got their stuff in without boring us.
