AJ Styles (c) vs. Shorty G [Intercontinental Championship]

Assuming AJ Styles nefariously retains the Intercontinental Championship against Matt Riddle at WWE Extreme Rules 2020 due to Corbin’s distraction, his next challenger at WWE SummerSlam 2020 should be Shorty G. On the July 4, 2017, episode of SmackDown, AJ Styles and Shorty G had an incredible match, and Shorty G wants that rematch now that Styles is back on SmackDown.

Since Shorty G is back on television, the WWE could be building him up for this championship match. Considering that Shorty G’s initial push did not lead him to a championship match, this revived push could be an upgrade but it won’t be a happy ending, unfortunately. Styles is just getting started with his IC title run and it’s not ending anytime soon.

Prediction: AJ Styles

Apollo Crews (c) vs. Kevin Owens [United States Championship]

Assuming Apollo Crews retains the United States Championship against Bobby Lashley at WWE Extreme Rules 2020 due to an inconclusive finish from a brawl between Lashley and the returning Lesnar, his next challenger at WWE SummerSlam 2020 should be Kevin Owens. On the June 1, 2020, episode of Monday Night Raw, Crews gave Owens a championship opportunity due to the assistance Owens had given him in their feud against Andrade and Garza.

That championship match never had a conclusive finish since Andrade and Garza forced a double disqualification. Now that Andrade and Garza are out of their hair, Crews and Owens should have their championship rematch on a bigger stage, like WWE SummerSlam 2020. By then, Crews will already have a lengthy reign for his first time as U.S. Champion and Owens still needs a championship victory to build off his momentum from defeating Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 36.

An Owens victory here would hopefully encourage Apollo Crews to turn heel and join MVP’s Franchise after all. That heel turn should lead to Crews winning his championship back post-SummerSlam because ‘Crews Can’t Lose’ when push comes to shove. A short-term victory for Owens and a long-term victory for Crews is the right way to go.

Prediction: Kevin Owens
