WWE Extreme Rules 2020: 3 possible main events for the PPV
Sasha Banks vs. Asuka
But for my money, the match that should main event WWE Extreme Rules 2020 is the Raw Women’s Championship match between Sasha Banks and Asuka. For at least three straight weeks building to the Pay Per View, Asuka will have main evented Monday nights. She closed the show in a mixed tag match with Sasha Banks and the WWE Title competitors, she closed this week’s show with Bayley in a wonderful match, and she will close next week’s show in a match for Banks’ and Bayley’s Women’s Tag Titles.
Asuka and Banks have been two of the best wrestlers in the company in 2020, which comes as no surprise to the many fans who understand that they ARE two of the best wrestlers in the entire world. And when you put two of the best wrestlers in the world while they are at the top of their games in a main event title match that has had weeks worth of quality build, you get fireworks.
On the first night of NXT Great American Bash, Banks main evented against NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai, only to be thwarted by Asuka’s mist. This feud is undoubtedly personal, and judging from what we saw from these two women in late January 2018 when they wrestled shortly after Asuka’s main roster call-up, we are in for a hard-hitting match.
If WWE has Sasha and Asuka take out their frustrations in an Extreme Rules match, then this will be the undoubted main event. I don’t think we’ll get a stipulation for a match between two amazing technical wrestlers, but it doesn’t need a stipulation to main event either. This match is definitely the most highly-anticipated on the card and will be the Match of the Night.
