Old School Rules TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match: Moose (c) vs. Tommy Dreamer

Result: Moose retained via pinfall

Rating: 2.5/5.0 Stars

Grade: C+

Tommy Dreamer works best when there’s a “hardcore” stipulation, so having the TNA World Title on the line in an “old school rules” match was a nice touch. With that being said, these two wasted no time in taking their fight outside of the ring. Once they did reenter the squared circle, tons of weapons from chairs to trash cans to tacks were utilized.

Admittedly, this was the match I was least excited for because of Moose and the lack of heat behind the story here. It felt like Moose made quick work of Dreamer by shoving his face into a pile of tacks and then nailing the spear to win. Impact Wrestling is set on pushing Moose, but I’m not sure it’s going anywhere anytime soon. Dreamer continues to put people over, but he should do the honors for people more deserving.

Knockouts Number One Contender’s Gauntlet Match

Result: Kylie Rae eliminated Taya Valkyrie to win

Rating: 3.0/5.0 Stars

Grade: B

Tasha vs. Kylie was a great way to start this match. John E. Bravo came in twice dressed as Taya and Rosemary, but it felt very unnecessary. Is it really that hard to just let the women do their thing without a man coming in to do a comedy bit? I feel like his disruptions took me out of the match, unfortunately. Elsewhere, Kiera and Rayne briefly battling it out was a nice call-back to their recent frenemy storyline.

Kimber Lee and Havok both had a decent showing despite coming up short. The continued story between Rosemary and Taya was another highlight, and I’m very curious to see where it goes next. Kylie going the distance was a good call, and she’ll make for a formidable challenger no matter who walks out as Knockouts Champion.

This was a fun gauntlet, but I almost feel like something was missing. My expectations were pretty high, and they certainly delivered. I really think we just needed less Bravo in the ring.
