Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler [WWE Championship Match: Extreme Rules Match Reserved for Dolph Ziggler]

Result: Drew McIntyre

Rating: 4.0/5.0 Stars

Grade: B+

Dolph Ziggler selected the following stipulation: Dolph Ziggler can use Extreme Rules but Drew McIntyre cannot. Our Kevin Parvizi called this stipulation weeks in advance. McIntyre was tempted to powerbomb Ziggler into the table, but he fought those temptations and instead focused on delivered his patented maneuvers, such as the Alabama Slam and Glasglow Kiss. Ziggler delivered low blows and chair shots to McIntyre to avoid getting Claymored.

Ziggler gained control of the match with an Elbow Drop from the top rope into McIntyre through the table on the outside. McIntyre attempted the Future Shock DDT, but Ziggler countered to deliver the Famouser, Claymore, and Rock Bottom. Ziggler tuned up the band to deliver the SuperKick but McIntyre kipped up to deliver the Claymore for the three-count and the victory. McIntyre retained the WWE Championship.

Analysis: This match was actually better than expected with a predictable result. After 10+ years, Ziggler still cannot manage to win the WWE Championship. Nonetheless, McIntyre’s reign rightfully continues on the road to WWE SummerSlam 2020, showcasing his superiority as the top champion in the WWE.

Braun Strowman vs. Bray Wyatt [Wyatt Swamp Fight]

Result: Bray Wyatt

Rating: 3.5/5.0 Stars

Grade: B-

Bray Wyatt trapped Braun Strowman in a room and tied him in a chair, attempting to acquire him as a Wyatt Family member with threats and snakes. Once Strowman got out of the room, Alexa Bliss played the role of Sister Abigail to remind them of their Mixed Match Challenge days and bait him into thinking that ‘they would be together.’

It seemed that Strowman was hallucinating about his past. He looked into the deep waters and got caught by Bray Wyatt. The Fiend emerged from the waters, indicating that Wyatt won the match, setting himself up for a Universal Championship match at SummerSlam. That was eerie for WWE Extreme Rules 2020.

Analysis: For a cinematic match, it was decent. It had many storyline flashbacks and planted the seeds for the end of their feud, come SummerSlam.
