Adam Cole vs. Dexter Lumis

NXT TakeOver tends to have one straight singles match most of the time, and the one I’m envisioning for NXT TakeOver: XXX pits Adam Cole of The Undisputed Era against Dexter Lumis. The Undisputed Era is, without exaggeration, falling apart.

Roderick Strong hasn’t been the same in months, and with Adam Cole’s loss to Keith Lee the faction is now without even a shred of championship gold. Adam Cole could easily place blame on Lumis for the way Undisputed Era has struggled, costing him his triple threat for an opportunity at the NXT North American Championship.

Turnabout being fair play, Adam Cole may find himself in one of those triple threats as well only for Lumis to take revenge and keep The Undisputed Era completely out of that ladder match. Finally, after months of issues with Lumis, Adam Cole will look to take care of things once and for all by taking out Dexter Lumis himself at NXT TakeOver: XXX.

NXT North American Championship Ladder Match: Bronson Reed vs. Timothy Thatcher vs. Damien Priest vs. Jake Atlas vs. Cameron Grimes

It’s unclear exactly how many competitors we’ll see in the Ladder Match at NXT TakeOver: XXX to crown the next NXT North American Champion. Bronson Reed was the first to qualify by toppling Johnny Gargano and Roderick Strong, and I expect four other competitors to join the fray.

The first being Timothy Thatcher, who has the chance to earn his spot next week against Finn Balor and Dexter Lumis. Damien Priest and Cameron Grimes have both had big moments in recent months and could see a huge opportunity by earning their way into this contest.

Finally, I’m hopeful at least one of the triple threats will see some cruiserweights given a chance to push their way up the card, with Jake Atlas taking the victory and earning a spot in this Ladder Match. None of these men are former champions (with the exception of Thatcher’s sort of reign as a tag champion), meaning whoever wins would be a truly new NXT North American Champion.
