WWE WrestleMania 37 Rumors: Randy Orton vs. Edge set to happen again
WWE WrestleMania 37 isn’t for another several months, but there’s already a big match planned for the show.
At this point in time, it’s unclear when it will be safe for fans to be in the live audience, which means we won’t even know if WWE WrestleMania 37 will take place in Los Angeles with a Hollywood theme. But even if it doesn’t, the world’s biggest wrestling promotion will surely have some marquee matches planned next March. (Not April!)
According to a report from the Wrestling Observer News’ Dave Meltzer, via WrestleTalk’s Louis Dangoor, WWE is currently planning on an “I Quit” match between Randy Orton and Edge at next year’s Show of Shows.
Edge’s return to WWE at the Royal Rumble this year felt like a dream, and he’s still got it. He and Orton delivered an excellent match at Backlash after a strong Last Man Standing effort at WrestleMania 36, so it’s perfectly reasonable to expect them to have a match at WrestleMania 37, perhaps even with Orton walking into the Pay Per View as WWE Champion so that Edge can win the belt in a heartwarming triumph.
But it’s possible fans will be tired of Edge vs. Orton by then, as talented as the two men are and as great as their chemistry has been in the ring and on the mic. This has been a memorable feud thus far, but it’s easy for even great feuds to be overdone in pro wrestling.
Edge tore his tricep at Backlash, so he and Orton couldn’t have another big stipulation match at SummerSlam 2020. Therefore, it would make sense for WWE to hold off on that final match for next year’s WrestleMania, assuming the two legends don’t face each other before then.
As champion, Edge could put over a young heel in a huge way, perhaps even a heel who has been compared to him like Andrade.
