If you could book a match between one AEW wrestler and one WWE superstar, who would you choose?

Fantasy booking has always been a time-honored tradition amongst wrestling fans. Sometimes it’s using a video game to simulate your own promotion. On the low-tech side, maybe a school-age fan draws tournament brackets in the margins of his history notes. But coming up with dream matches across promotional boundaries is also a fun thought exercise, and with the AEW/WWE war in full swing, the topic has been on the minds of many  fans.

Some promotions have working relationships with others that allow inter-promotional matches like these to take place. NJPW and ROH have worked together for years, co-hosting pay-per-view events featuring the best of both companies. Still, it’s always the promotions that are in direct competition with each other that spawn these fantasy booking discussions — WWE vs. WCW, or AJPW vs. NJPW (pre-2001), as a few examples.

On Saturday afternoon, Fite TV posed such a question to its followers on Twitter. It’s a simple premise — choose one wrestler from AEW and one wrestler from WWE for a match. There have been plenty of replies to the original tweet, and several of us at Daily DDT spent some time discussing what we would choose.

Since it’s such a fun topic, we decided to write up some of our favorites. For the purposes of this piece, we’ll stick to the rules of the tweet — one wrestler from each promotion. So as much as some of us would like to see Santana/Ortiz vs. The Usos, or SCU vs. The Undisputed Era, they aren’t singles matches. (And believe me, I’d love to see both of those matches.)

Without any further ado, here are five inter-promotional matches we’d love to see featuring wrestlers from AEW and WWE.
