MJF vs. Kevin Owens

While R-Truth and Orange Cassidy have similar pedigrees as comedic wrestlers, MJF and Kevin Owens appear to be polar opposites. One of AEW’s hottest young talents, MJF is the epitome of spoiled rich kid. The ego, the Burberry, and the attitude all scream “PRIVILEGE” — and then he’s got the talent to actually back it up.

With Wardlow by his side, MJF has established himself as a future world champion, so long as his mouth doesn’t get him into trouble. Counter that with Kevin Owens, who is a former world champion who has had his fair share of trouble stemming from things he’s said. But now, Owens is positioned as a family man — providing for someone other than himself is priority number one.

KO has had mixed success in his WWE career, which could obviously be something MJF would incessantly bring up in promos leading up to the match. The war of words and honesty behind them would lay a great foundation for a match, and both wrestlers are talented enough to tell the conclusion of that story in the ring.

As a microcosm of American society, it would be fitting for the spoiled rich kid to cheat his way to victory by screwing over Owens the family man. I could envision a well-fought, back-and-forth brawl that is more evenly matched than The Salt of the Earth would expect, leading to a shot to the eye with the Dynamite Diamond ring while Wardlow provides a distraction.

A good story can elevate even a mediocre match to slightly above average, so putting together two talented wrestlers in the ring with a good story usually spells success. Given the chance to tell that story, good things could happen with MJF and KO.
