Big Swole vs. Io Shirai

There are literally dozens of great possible matches across the women’s rosters of AEW and WWE. AEW has the likes of Hikaru Shida, Nyla Rose, Kris Statlander, Britt Baker, Riho, and Penelope Ford; WWE counters with the Four Horsewomen, Asuka, Naomi, Bianca Belair, Nikki Cross, and Sonya Deville.

Maybe I’m cheating by dipping into NXT, but Io Shirai is one of the literal best in the world, full stop. Her aerial offense is on an elite level, but one thing necessary for a high flyer is a good base from the opposition. (Think about how good the Cesaro vs. Sami Zayn matches from 2013 NXT were, and realize that Cesaro is one of the best bases in the world for aerialists.)

Enter Big Swole. Still looking to truly establish herself as a major player on Dynamite, Swole is one of the strongest women on the AEW roster. That strength translates well for someone to serve as a base for a lucha-influenced wrestler to work with. Pairing Shirai and Swole would be a no-brainer for me.

Swole is no stranger to aerial maneuvers herself, so the possibilities for such a match are endless. Both wrestlers are versatile enough to go for a fast-paced high action style, or to slow it down and brawl. Assuming the goal of inter-promotional matches is to put your best foot forward at all times, I can’t think of a better pairing to showcase the different divisions — everything you would want to see could be found in this one match.
