Here are the reasons why Big E should be your next Intercontinental Champion on WWE SmackDown.

Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are out for the foreseeable future injuries. Which makes this the perfect time to build Big E as a viable singles star. The first rumblings of E as a singles competitor came on WWE SmackDown. But it’s not enough for E to compete alone, he should win, and he should be the superstar to dethrone AJ Styles. Here’s why.

Marketability

The New Day has been the most marketable superstars for the past 6 years. Simply put, the trio moves merchandise. New Day merchandise has been a staple for fans in attendance, likely because it’s not the same copy and past black t-shirts all over WWE shop. KofiMania shirts were a fan favorite purchase in 2019 and this would be no different. A superstar’s ability to move merchandise helps make them a fixture of programming, and the past few IC titleholders haven’t had that capability.

Furthermore, the New Day have been kings of content. Their podcast is wildly popular, Woods gaming channel has remained successful, and Big E in particular on social media is one of the best follows you can make. Big E on Twitter is a gift that all should appreciate and is the definition of entertainment. In the past year, we’ve seen E do a 90s attire themed fashion show, and profess his love for Becky Lynch’s mother. There’s no need to overcompensate for Big E, fans naturally gravitate to his character. Marketing him as the IC champion is a no brainer, plus the WWE should be more vocal and promoting his recent contributions to social justice.
