WWE Raw: Asuka vs. Bayley is less predictable than you think
On next week’s episode of WWE Raw, Bayley will face off against Asuka in a match that could go in any number of directions.
You can say a lot of things about WWE Raw right now, but one thing you can’t say is that it’s predictable. For example, who saw Sasha Banks winning the Raw Women’s Title via Bayley attacking Kairi Sane backstage? Don’t lie. You thought Shayna Baszler would write off Kairi and Asuka would win the vacant title, leaving Sasha and Bayley back to square one in their goal to hold all the gold.
Instead, Sasha Banks is the Raw Women’s Champion and a Women’s Tag Team Champion, and Shayna is eyeing her as her opponent, even as Asuka does the same. But Asuka couldn’t get her match against Sasha, since Sasha said on the Aug. 3 episode of Raw that the Empress of Yesterday (sorry, I can’t resist!) must face Bayley again in order to get that opportunity.
The predictable booking scenario goes like this, right? Asuka and Bayley have their match next week on WWE Raw, and it’s another classic. Sasha tries to help Bayley, it backfires, Asuka wins and Bayley looks somewhat protected and we get some Sasha/Bayley friction. Asuka goes on to face Sasha at SummerSlam, wins the title back, and then Sasha and Bayley feud after they also lose the Women’s Tag Titles to the reunited Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott.

Whew. OK, sounds easy enough, right?
But like, what if it’s not that simple? Let’s come up with this scenario. So Asuka and Bayley have their match, but instead of losing to Asuka for like the umpteenth time in her career, Bayley gets the win after Shayna Baszler does her “tweener” stuff and costs Asuka.
Because she wants to face Sasha at SummerSlam. Meanwhile, Asuka relentlessly pursues Bayley as revenge for this loss and for Kairi, going after the SmackDown Women’s Title. We get Asuka vs. Bayley at SummerSlam and Shayna vs. Sasha at SummerSlam on the WWE Raw side.
There are so many possibilities, and these are just two of them.
I’m sure you could come up with any number of different finishes for this match that leads to an entirely different array of outcomes, and with WWE seemingly making things up on the fly on Raw and SmackDown, you really never know what’s going to happen next. Like, you know, Sasha and Bayley holding all the gold in the first place!

Sasha, Bayley, and Asuka have been the best wrestlers in WWE over the past several months, and it’s been because of their storytelling, primarily. Get ready to be entertained and even surprised.
