United States Championship Match: Apollo Crews (c) vs. Bobby Lashley

The first potential contest, and one of several championship matches, wouldn’t quite be a rematch from SummerSlam but would definitely be a continuation of the same rivalry. Apollo Crews defends at SummerSlam against MVP, but the thing about MVP is he’s never alone.

Since forming The Hurt Business, MVP has constantly kept Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin at his side. While I’m expecting they won’t be able to help him regain the United States Championship he never really won at SummerSlam, MVP could be looking to finally unleash Lashley on Crews at WWE Payback.

Joseph Park vs. Jeff Hardy

Maybe it’s just the TNA fan in me, but this would be a mindbogglingly shocking match to see on a WWE pay-per-view. However, they opened the door to it this week on SmackDown. AJ Styles introduced the Phenomenal Intercontinental Statistical System, or P.I.S.S. Someone was very proud of that acronym. Naming issues aside, the man presenting it was Joseph Park, who fans of TNA (Impact Wrestling) might know better as “The Monster” Abyss.

There’s no shortage of history between these three from their time in TNA, and we could see Park at ringside for Hardy’s Intercontinental Title shot. If he were to cost Hardy the match, The Charismatic Enigma could be looking for some payback at WWE Payback against an old rival.

Dominik Mysterio & Rey Mysterio vs. Seth Rollins & Murphy

Another continuation of what we’ll see at SummerSlam, Dominik Mysterio makes his in-ring WWE debut there against Seth Rollins in a Street Fight. The match is sure to be brutal, as previewed this week on WWE Raw when Rollins wailed on Dominik with a kendo stick.

Rey and Dominik have talked before about the dream of teaming together, and we could see Rey return to the ring after his Eye for an Eye loss to Seth Rollins by teaming with his own son to take on Rollins and his disciple Murphy at WWE Payback.
