WWE Payback 2020: Full match card predictions before SummerSlam

Universal Championship Match: “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Braun Strowman

The third and final championship rematch would come after “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt vanquishes Braun Strowman at SummerSlam and takes back the Universal Championship. Of course, one loss isn’t going to stop Strowman, and he’ll be looking for a rematch to take back his title.

This would simply be a continuation of the same intensity we’re seeing from these two in the build to SummerSlam, but this time Strowman will find himself the challenger instead of the champion. I don’t think that change is likely to alter the outcome, as “The Fiend” should walk in and out of WWE Payback as the Universal Champion.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Gauntlet Match: Sasha Banks & Bayley (c) vs. The IIconics vs. The Riott Squad vs. Nikki Cross & Alexa Bliss vs. Mercedes Martinez & Aliyah vs. Tegan Nox & Shotzi Blackheart

The only thing currently confirmed at WWE Payback is that Sasha Banks & Bayley will be defending the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. After giving some thought to how that defense should go, I could think of no more perfect main event than this one.

The Golden Role Models should defend their titles at WWE Payback in a six-team Gauntlet Match. The possibilities for this unforgettable contest seem endless, as teams from all three brands come together to see who can run the gauntlet and end the night as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.

From Raw, we’ve got The IIconics and the recently reunited Riott Squad of Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott gunning for the titles. An opportunistic placement in the lineup for The IIconics could give them an advantage, or we could see Riott and Morgan become a huge babyface tag team by coming out early and running the gauntlet all the way to the end.

Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross come from SmackDown, like the champions, and would be looking to overcome recent struggles in their friendship to reclaim the titles they once held. Finally, from NXT we have former challengers Tegan Nox and Shotzi Blackheart, as well as the recently crafted duo of Mercedes Martinez and Aliyah representing The Robert Stone Brand.

Sasha Banks and Bayley have drawn the ire of Stephanie McMahon as of late, making this kind of challenge a real possibility. Of course, the luck of the draw could always end up evening the playing field and putting The Golden Role Models in position to retain their titles, even if they didn’t see that same kind of success at SummerSlam.
