WWE: 3 possible NXT call-ups after SummerSlam 2020

WWE NXT call-ups are expected on the Raw and SmackDown episodes after SummerSlam 2020.

The Raw and SmackDown episodes after WrestleMania are not the only times of year to expect some WWE NXT call-ups. A key sign of these call ups would be RETRIBUTION, a faction that has been running wild on only the main roster shows. Why haven’t they invaded NXT? Maybe it’s because this faction solely consists of NXT superstars who are willing and able to make a statement.

This would explain the absence of quite a few WWE superstars on WWE NXT and could also be a huge breakthrough for superstars who have overdone their time or stay on the yellow brand. With that being said, the following will identify and expatiate on three possible NXT call-ups that could take place on the Raw and SmackDown episodes after WWE SummerSlam 2020.

3.) Undisputed Era

Undisputed Era has already won all the gold in NXT. Adam Cole has already become the longest-reigning NXT Champion while Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish have already become the NXT North American Champion and NXT Tag Team Champions respectively. They are currently in a feud with Pat McAfee, which could be their last feud in NXT. That feud could come to an end at NXT Takeover XXX, after which this faction can get called up.

If so, Undisputed Era can make a statement on Raw by attacking WWE Champion Drew McIntyre in a similar manner to how they executed their debut in NXT at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn. If not, Cole can still use his nascent babyface run to revisit his feud with Karrion Kross that was teased on the June 10, 2020, episode of NXT to put him over as the top heel on NXT before getting called up later down the line.

2.) Johnny Gargano & Candice LeRae

Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae have both overdone their stay in NXT. Despite the fact that the latter has not yet won the NXT Women’s Championship, both Gargano and LeRae could still make a huge impact on the main roster as a mixed tag team. They have proven their superiority together in NXT and can do the same on either Raw or SmackDown. Why should they be only the heart and soul of NXT when they could be the heart and soul of the entire WWE?

They have already battled everyone in the yellow brand, and it’s time for a change. Their feuds are getting stale, and they need new fish to fry. The WWE Universe wants to see Gargano in matches with Daniel Bryan and Sami Zayn, and they want to see Candice LeRae in matches with Bayley and Sasha Banks. If they remain in NXT ‘for life,’ it would be eminently difficult to book these dream matches that could really set their careers in a positive, progressive direction.

1.) Tomasso Ciampa, Keith Lee, & Dominik Dijakovic

Ever since he lost to Karrion Kross at NXT Takeover: In Your House, Tomasso Ciampa has not been booked for any more feuds on NXT. The same goes for Dominick Dijakovic after he lost to Karrion Kross on the July 22, 2020, episode of NXT. Both Ciampa and Dijakovic have been quiet ever since their losses to Karrion Kross. However, there is still one more individual who is on the verge of losing to Karrion Kross at NXT Takeover XXX, and that individual’s name is Keith Lee.

What if Keith Lee also goes silent after losing his NXT Championship to Kross at NXT Takeover XXX? Could this peculiar silence be a sign of RETRIBUTION? What if Ciampa, Lee, and Dijakovic all have similar paths of transforming into new characters after losing to Karrion Kross and are revealed as a ‘killer’ faction (*cough* RETRIBUTION) on the main roster? It wouldn’t be too far fetched because these three superstars had teamed up before at NXT Takeover War Games III.

As can be substantiated by their gritty War Games victory alongside Kevin Owens against The Undisputed Era at NXT Takeover War Games III, it would be exciting to see Ciampa, Lee, and Dijakovic take on these new roles on the main roster. They would be trying something new and taking their characters to the next level as they collectively take over WWE. RETRIBUTION, eh? Indeed, ‘you’ll never see it coming.”
