Sasha Banks and Bayley have finally broken up on SmackDown, but will we have to wait until WWE WrestleMania 37 for their big match?

WWE fans thought they would get Sasha Banks vs, Bayley at WrestleMania 36. Then they thought they would get the dream rivalry for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at SummerSlam 2020. And now, it’s totally up in the air what will happen.

But we’re moving. At long last, we are moving forward with this storyline. After Sasha lost the Raw Women’s Title to Asuka at SummerSlam, she and Bayley lost the Women’s Tag Titles at Payback. On the following episode of SmackDown, they had an opportunity to win the titles back, but they came up short again, as Sasha’s knee was injured in the ringpost then relentlessly attacked by Shayna Baszler.

After the match, Sasha was attended by officials. Bayley motioned them away, then helped Sasha out of the ring. But then she struck. Bayley started smashing Sasha’s knee into the steel steps and started beating her up with a steel chair, even jumping off the top rope to hit the point of the chair into her neck.

Banks was stretchered off into an ambulance after the beatdown, which means she could very well be written off television.

Can WWE really wait that long for Sasha Banks vs. Bayley?

But for how long?

Many fans are wondering if Sasha Banks could be written off television until the Royal Rumble, making a triumphant return in late January by winning the Rumble en route to facing Bayley at WWE WrestleMania 37.

That sounds like a perfect way for Sasha to return and to have a huge feud with Bayley, getting her revenge on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

But there are two issues to consider. Can WWE really leave one of their biggest stars off television for four months? Those are four months they need a workhorse like Sasha every week on SmackDown.

Sasha Banks vs. Bayley will be the biggest match in wrestling

The second issue might actually be a bigger deal, and that’s Bayley’s title reign. She’s been champion since last Fall, so can she really hold the belt for longer?

There are two ways to work around that. The upcoming WWE Draft could get Bayley new matchups. And Bayley could lose the SmackDown Women’s Title but win it back later, or she could win the Raw Women’s Title if she ends up on Raw.

At the end of the days, Sasha Banks vs. Bayley should be the biggest feud in WWE whenever Sasha returns. After the beatdown on SmackDown, it has become the biggest story in wrestling, as you’d expect given the interest in this rivalry and the talent and chemistry of the two living legends involved.

Sasha vs. Bayley fits the stage of WrestleMania in Hollywood. Banks has yet to win the Rumble and winning the Rumble would be a perfect way to set this title match up. However WWE goes about it, I hope this is the path we go down, since it would lead to the biggest possible moment for two wrestlers who have given their absolute all every single week in 2020 thus far.
