5 matches that need to happen at WWE Clash of Champions 2020
Which matches must take place at WWE Clash of Champions 2020?
WWE Clash of Champions 2020 is fast approaching us with the event scheduled to take place on September 27, 2020, in the WWE ThenderDome at the Amway Centre. There is much anticipation for this event, given the numerous developments in major storylines on RAW and SmackDown Live in recent weeks. So far, only two matches have been confirmed for the show.
Drew McIntyre is set to defend the WWE Championship against arch-rival Randy Orton, and the newly-crowned Universal Champion Roman Reigns is going face his cousin Jey Uso for the title. For Clash of Champions, the idea has always been that every single championship will be defended on the card, so we can presume that the show which has aptly been given the tagline “Gold Rush” will be full of title matches with non-title matches barely getting a spot, maybe not even on the pre-show.
However, with recent developments on the weekly shows, there are matches that need a bigger stage, so here are five matches that need to happen at Clash of Champions 2020.
Cedric Alexander vs. Ricochet
In the latest episode of RAW, Cedric Alexander shocked the WWE Universe by turning on his partners Ricochet and Apollo Crews mid-match. Cedric viciously attacked Ricochet while Apollo was blindsided and then pinned in the ring. Cedric officially aligned with the Hurt Business later on the show.
This heel turn opens a lot of possibilities, the most obvious being a match and possibly even a feud between Cedric and Ricochet, arguably two of the most underutilized workhorses on the main roster.
We know Cedric is capable of handling himself as a heel from his days in ROH, and Ricochet, being an actual superhero, is the most lovable of babyfaces. Let these two work their magic in a feud and elevate each other, and let the first of their many guaranteed classics be on Clash of Champions.
