Ricochet

Could it have been anyone else? probably. Could they have deserved it more or could they have been a better fit? I don’t think so. Ricochet is hands down one of the best in-ring workers on the planet, and he is criminally underutilized on the main roster.

There’s a reason why there was so much buzz and hype around his debut at NXT in 2018, this man is capable of doing other-worldly things, and with such grace and precision that it’s simply supernatural. He was regarded as one of the hottest free agents in wrestling before he made it to NXT. He’s even won the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Award for Best Flying Wrestler thrice.

He’s been all over the world and he’s mesmerized audiences with his acrobatic skills, unbelievable flexibility, and underrated technical wrestling. He can work classic matches with all kinds of opponents. He’s been a high flying sensation just like Rey Mysterio was in his hay day, and he’s even wrestled in a mask, under the ring name Prince Puma.

The only place where his momentum has arguably come to a standstill is actually the place he’s currently at, the WWE. In WWE, he’s just another guy, which is really sad and frustrating to fans all around the world because we all know he can be so much more, it’s clear as daylight and Vince McMahon is seemingly the only one who can’t see it.

As his run in NXT has proved, seeing him flying around the ring with grace and doing flips and rolls like a power ranger is one of the most breathtaking things for fans and it pops the crowd every time. Let’s hope they do more with Ricochet because he’s more than worthy of being Rey Mysterio’s successor, and one that Rey can be proud of.
