Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan win the Women’s Tag Titles

Before the Sept. 14 episode of Raw, WWE announced that Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan would face Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax for the Women’s Tag Team Titles at WWE Clash of Champions 2020.

Baszler and Jax won the titles at Payback when Baszler used Sasha Banks’ arm to choke out Bayley, precipitating the breakup of one of the greatest tag teams in WWE.

It’s been entertaining to watch Baszler and Jax try to get along, but this tag team doesn’t have much of a shelf life. Jax and Baszler were always meant to be transitional champs to put over the right babyface team, help Sasha and Bayley break up, and then head their separate ways as rivals for Asuka’s Raw Women’s Title.

Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott absolutely need to be the next Women’s Tag Titles. The Riott Squad, even as a trio, never won the tag titles, even though they’ve been an important part of the WWE Women’s Division since forming in late 2017.

Ruby and Liv have great chemistry and are also great in the ring. They would elevate those tag titles as a babyface team, defending them on all three brands just like Sasha and Bayley did for months. Fans are invested in Liv and Ruby as teammates, given the emotional reactions to their reunion on the Kevin Owens Show this summer.
