I know this may seem like a strange choice at first, but hear me out. Now, these are feuds for a heel Kenny Omega, a.k.a. The Cleaner. AEW has been beautifully building Kenny Omega’s heel turn for a long time now. It hasn’t happened yet, but Omega has been showing signs of frustration for weeks. In the leadup to All Out 2020, Omega showed a lot of heel-ish tendencies.
He was getting increasingly annoyed with his friends, he would keep beating his opponents even after the bell had rung, and he would go absolutely nuts beating down people in tag matches to the point where the Bucks had to calm him down.
So when that heel turn does happen, you want Omega to be an absolute psycho who stops at nothing to get what he wants, you want him to be a wrestling machine who dismantles everyone in his path to finally become the chosen one that he was always meant to be. You don’t want him to be a cool heel, you want him to be a real, scary supervillain who people just want to see be beaten but there’s nobody actually as good as him.
A big reason why the Bullet Club and Omega himself worked so well in Japan was that the crowd actually hated them. They were outsiders who stood against everything that represented the fighting spirit of Japanese wrestling. They were cheaters who were succeeding in destroying NJPW. We need that Kenny Omega, a wrestling genius who fans loved to hate.
And who better to go against a hated villain then three of the most over babyfaces on the roster? Essentially, this is a Kenny Omega vs. Jurassic Express pitch. Jurassic Express is one of the most popular gimmicks in AEW. We got to see just how popular Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy, and Marko Stunt were in a segment on Dynamite in which the Jurassic Express interrupted Chris Jericho and Jake Hager. There were individual pops for all three guys and they felt like stars standing up to Jericho.
A feud with Jurassic Express going against a fully-heel Kenny Omega has the potential to elevate all three guys and produce some incredible matches. Jungle Boy is a prodigy of wrestling and would match up beautifully with Omega, Luchasaurus can do amazing things for a man his size and could produce brilliance with a pro like Omega, but the key here is Marko Stunt.
Marko has had an incredible journey in wrestling and he’s truly inspirational to have made it in the business despite his size. He’ll have fan support no matter where goes and whoever puts a hand on him will look like the worst guy in the universe. As Lance Archer and Jake Hager have proved, Stunt works wonders for heels. That’s why, to truly cement his character as pure evil, Omega needs to absolutely decimate Marko Stunt.
They already have a history, with Omega pummeling Stunt after a match between The Elite and Jurassic Express. A mini-feud between Omega and Stunt would be great to cement Kenny’s heel turn. Stunt could be applauded for standing up to Omega, and Omega could be loathed for beating the crap out pf Stunt.
Maybe Stunt could even beat Omega in a match, via shenanigans of course, maybe a sneaky roll-up while Omega is busy trash-talking Jungle Boy? It would be a monumental upset, similar to that awesome feud between AJ Styles and James Ellsworth, and then when Omega murders Stunt in a rematch later, he would be seen as a monster with no redeemable qualities.
