Orange Cassidy

“If you wanna be great, you have to work harder than everybody else.” said the world. “Hold my sunglasses.” said Orange Cassidy.

If you’re an AEW fan and watch Dynamite regularly, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. Orange Cassidy is a man who has proved that in pro-wrestling, there are no right answers. This is a gimmick that should never have worked on paper, but through sheer, let’s say not hard work, the man has made it work, and to say it has worked well would be a huge understatement. With his unique look, silent charisma, comedic goldmine of a move set and gestures, and last but certainly not the least, his laziness, Cassidy has become one of the most popular acts in the company. He’s one of those guys who if handled properly, has the potential to be a megastar in the future, and the momentum he has after the Jericho feud needs to be capitalized upon.

Now, his lazy persona doesn’t mean he can’t work, because he’s pure fire in the ring, that is when he tries. That’s why Omega and Cassidy are a perfect match, because as we know in nature, opposites attract, and which two wrestlers can be polar opposites of each other in the kayfabe world more than Orange Cassidy and Kenny Omega? Orange Cassidy, who can’t even be bothered to lift a thumb versus Kenny Omega, who goes 100 miles an hour in virtually every match he’s in. It would be a clash of styles we know we want and we want it right now!

Moreover, Cassidy is at his best when he’s up against a massive heel who’s absolutely sick of his schtick. It’s an absolutely hilarious thing to watch as Cassidy annoys his opponent by simply being himself. Take Cassidy shin-kicking Jericho just because he told him not to, as Jericho grits his teeth, or his match against Pac at Revolution. You just know Omega’s going to be annoyed as hell when he goes through that, and it’s going to be entertaining as hell for fans.

Most of all, the matches between the pair promise to be absolute bangers that would probably be the best matches of Cassidy’s career, possibly even Omega’s. If these matches are longer than the match with Pac, and better in-ring than the matches with Jericho, and if Omega pushes Cassidy as he’s never been pushed before, if Cassidy tries as he’s never tried before, this feud promises to be one of the best In AEW’s short history, and it also promises to propel Orange Cassidy into superstardom and mold him into a certified main-eventer.
