WWE has come to terms with a deal to sign a five-time Women’s Champion in the company whom they tried to book at this year’s Royal Rumble.

Wrestling fans have been wondering when Melina would make her return to WWE. A three-time Women’s Champion and two-time Divas Champion, Melina is one of the legends of women’s wrestling and a sure-fire future Hall of Famer. Fans have been asking about her returning seemingly every year.

Melina is often asked about appearing at Rumbles or other big shows, and fans also ask her about having heat from WWE.

Well, there is heat no more.

PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson reports that WWE have agreed to terms with Melina on a new contract, bringing back the five-time Women’s Champion for a run in 2020. Johnson was told by sources that Melina will return to WWE television “within the next week”.

Melina can elevate a lot of rising stars in WWE

This is a huge move for the promotion and Melina, and Johnson notes that the company tried to bring her in for this year’s Royal Rumble but could not due to her agreement with NWA.

Melina has won titles outside WWE, such as the WOW Women’s Championship, but most of her success has been with the biggest promotion in professional wrestling. She is often mentioned by fans and even other wrestlers as a dream match.

The tag team division could use some new teams, so keep a close eye on if Melina joins up with a current star to form a tag team. She could work well with fellow legend and six-time Women’s Champion Mickie James, or she could help elevate a new star by working with them.
