Asuka (c) vs. Zelina Vega [Raw Women’s Championship]

While it is exciting to see the talented Zelina Vega get back into the squared circle, why is she already in the title picture? After picking up periodic losses to Bianca Belair in the past few months, she has not nearly been built as a credible threat to Asuka’s title reign.

If this title match does happen, it would be an immense disservice to both superstars, especially since it would only be a two-week build for a match that will have a very predictable outcome. This booking decision is evidently inimical to the future of the Raw Women’s Division.

On the bright side, Zelina Vega can get a solid ‘rub’ of sorts in this title match with Asuka to prove that she does belong in the title picture in the future. However, as mentioned earlier, the outcome will be eminently predictable with Asuka decisively retaining the Raw Women’s Championship.

Prediction: Asuka

Bayley (c) vs. Nikki Cross [SmackDown Women’s Championship]

Bayley vs. Nikki Cross Part 100000000? Why not Bayley vs. Naomi or Bayley vs. Mandy Rose?

Naomi, who deserves better, defeated Bayley in a non-title ‘Beat The Clock Challenge’ match on SmackDown a few weeks ago and should have been next in line for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, as is substantiated by WWE’s procedural booking rules. Meanwhile, Mandy Rose picked up a huge victory against Sonya Deville and was rewarded with a directionless trade to Raw, instead of a fresh title match against Bayley.

On the bright side, putting Nikki Cross in this position will help promote her current storyline with Alexa Bliss and ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt. However, she won’t be winning the SmackDown Women’s Championship because Sasha Banks needs to be the one to dethrone Bayley. It would be interesting to see Banks help Bayley win here just to make sure that she is the one to dethrone her at the WWE Hell in a Cell 2020 in November.

Prediction: Bayley (thanks to Sasha Banks)
