Why Sami Zayn needs to win at WWE Clash of Champions 2020.

The master of the Helluva Kick, Sami Zayn, will attempt to become a two-time Intercontinental Champion when he takes on Jeff Hardy, the current titleholder, and AJ Styles in a Triple Threat Ladder Match this Sunday at WWE Clash of Champions 2020. Zayn has been very vocal in his claim of being the “real” Intercontinental Champion and it’s hard to disagree with him. Here’s why Sami Zayn needs to win at the pay-per-view.

Since returning to WWE, after a six months absence on August 28th edition of SmackDown, Sami Zayn has been on a mission to let everybody know he never lost the Intercontinental Title and that Jeff Hardy was a “fraud” and a “scammer” for walking around with “his” championship. Sami Zayn promised there wouldn’t be “no peace” on the blue brand and will he vowed to “bring the ship down” if he is not given his title.

At every opportunity, it doesn’t matter if it’s on Talking Smack or on Social Media, Sami Zayn has let the world know he was “robbed” of the title and will do whatever it takes to become the undisputed Intercontinental Champion at WWE Clash of Champions.

Here are three reasons why the former NXT Champion should be the one to climb the ladder and capture the title he was forced to vacate.

1. Sami Zayn didn’t lose the Intercontinental Title in the first place

Annoying and overbearing, he maybe, but you cannot deny Sami Zayn has a pretty good point when it comes to being treated unfairly by WWE management. After retaining the second most prestigious title in the company, against Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 36, Sami Zayn went on a hiatus due to the current global situation and was stripped of the title – his first on the main roster.

While people like Brock Lesnar didn’t defend his title for months, and remained champion, Zayn’s was taken away from him – his complaints are legitimate.

From telling ring announcer Greg Hamilton to announce him as the Intercontinental Champion to telling the production crew to include graphics on his entrance, that state he is the champion, Sami Zayn has not been shy in letting everybody know he is a victim of a huge injustice.

It makes sense for WWE to use a real-life situation and turn it into a storyline and it’s been great so far. Despite being a heel, Sami Zayn has the sympathy of some members of the WWE Universe for being punished for something that’s totally out of his control. Sami Zayn put his health first and was made an example of, he should have been placed in a singles match for the title, as soon as he made his return to SmackDown.

Sami Zayn winning the title again would be the right course of action and he could move onto a solo programme with Jeff Hardy, who would have the excuse of not losing the Intercontinental Championship in a one-on-one match, to the new champion.
