With the 2020 WWE Draft confirmed and less than two weeks away, which six superstars could end up being the number one pick?

We finally have confirmation of the 2020 WWE Draft. The two-night event will begin on the October 9 episode of SmackDown and conclude just a few days later during the October 12 episode of WWE Raw.

There have been reports for some time that this year’s WWE Draft was in the works, but kept getting postponed. It appears the time has finally come to move forward with it, and WWE is holding it just a few weeks before their annual Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event and with Survivor Series looming on the horizon.

There’s been speculation NXT could even be involved in the 2020 WWE Draft somehow, but exactly how that would fit into the mechanics of this two-night event that doesn’t include an episode of WWE NXT is unclear. It’s unlikely the brand would get a number of picks similar to either “main roster” brand, but seeing William Regal make one or two surprise selections either night could be fascinating.

While a lot of potential changes could be on the horizon, many superstars are surely hoping to hold the coveted spot of being a number one pick. While some version of the WWE Draft, whether it be the “Superstar Shake-Up” or “Draft Lottery”, has been done at random, it currently looks like we’ll see each brand making selections this year.

Despite some version of the WWE Draft having existed since as far back as 2002, only three previous years have had calculated selections and not either been a partial shake-up or featured picks made at random by a computer. The three previous number one picks have been The Rock (2002, SmackDown), Seth Rollins (2016, WWE Raw), and Becky Lynch (2019, WWE Raw).
