Ember Moon and Toni Storm are yet two more names added to the insanely deep women’s division in NXT.

One of the talking points heading into NXT TakeOver 31 was the return of some mystery wrestler riding in on a motorcycle. Speculation raged as multiple names came up as to who the person could be, but the end of the women’s title match between Io Shirai and Candice LeRae, it was revealed to be Ember Moon. But she was not the only lady back as Toni Storm announced her return minutes before that on the big screen. This is a big moment for the NXT women’s division as they rebuild depth back in the best women’s division in the industry.

In less than two minutes, two former WWE women’s champions returned to the black and gold brand. Both Moon and Storm held titles on their respective NXT brands, being recognized as two top competitors, regardless of brand. Storm had a little more to say than Moon during the segment, but across social media the response to them both was very positive. There is no telling what their next steps will be back in NXT, but they can easily get featured in a primary spot as Shirai’s next foil.

Adding Storm and Moon immediately brings back depth to this division. Already the group includes Shirai, LeRae, Kayden Carter, Rhea Ripley, Shotzi Blackheart, Xia Li, and others. Any of those individuals creates an interesting first feud for the two returning competitors. It’s too soon to put them in the ring in a singles angle, as that would kill off one competitor, so keeping them apart and offering up a storyline with one of the other women on the roster creates even more opportunity for the entire division.

Each Wednesday NXT runs head-to-head against AEW Dynamite. AEW leans on one of its strengths that is tag team wrestling. While their women’s division is coming along, they still pale in comparison to that of the NXT women’s division, which they lean on every week, frequently featuring them in the opening segment of the night. The women across NXT’s division can easily mainly event a show, which is another spot that Moon and Storm can find themselves in over time.

The NXT women’s division could be called an embarrassment of riches. Ember Moon and Toni Storm’s return adds two more top names that can draw in fans with their presentations and in-ring abilities. As long as the rest of the top names continue to get adequate time and development, this can be a really special time for women’s division in the black and gold brand, that continues to utilize the women in division very well.
