WWE NXT: Finn Balor provides an update on his injury from TakeOver 31
Finn Balor and Kyle O’Reilly put on a WWE NXT TakeOver match for the ages on Sunday, but both men certainly took some damage during it.
By the end of their NXT Title match at WWE NXT TakeOver 31 on Sunday night, Finn Balor and Kyle O’Reilly were both bleeding from a mouth.
In a match that never left the ring, Balor and O’Reilly put on an absolute clinic in the show’s main event, closing a strong show with a match that absolutely earned its main event slot on a loaded card that also featured the second bout between Io Shirai and Candice LeRae.
It was a brutal, uncompromising match between two of WWE’s most talented wrestlers, with O’Reilly showing his world-class selling and ability as an emerging babyface on the Black and Gold brand. This was an ideal way to boost O’Reilly and kick-off Balor’s title reign.
Of course, it came at a price. Wrestling fans have been wondering the extent of the damage to both competitors, and Finn Balor recently took to social media to give everyone an update on his condition before the Oct. 7 episode of WWE NXT television.
WWE NXT Champion Finn Balor broke his jaw in two places
Balor tweeted that he broke his jaw in two places in the TakeOver 31 main event, teasing that more information would be provided on the show.
It is possible that Balor could be forced to miss time with the injury, though WWE already had to have Karrion Kross relinquish the NXT Title shortly after his match against Keith Lee at NXT TakeOver 30.
Hopefully, Balor has a quick and full recovery and is doing OK otherwise. All eyes will be on further developments on the Black and Gold brand.
A broken jaw in two places. What a painful reminder of an extraordinary main event match for Finn, who has been tremendous since joining the Black and Gold brand last Fall.
