WWE Raw Rumors: Two high-profile undrafted free agents will sign
Several notable superstars went undrafted this year, but two wrestlers will reportedly stick with the WWE Raw roster.
Last year, Andrade was selected in the first round of the draft by WWE Raw and went on to become the United States Champion that winter.
His stock has fallen since then, as the former NXT Champion has lost recent matches to Keith Lee and Angel Garza without putting up as much of a fight as you’d expect. Worse yet, he was an even bigger snub than Sami Zayn in this year’s draft, going undrafted completely.
According to a report from PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson, Andrade will make his way back to the Red Brand and sign with WWE Raw as an undrafted free agent. He won’t be the only high-profile free agent to sign, as Mickie James also went undrafted and will continue wrestling on Monday nights.
Mickie James and Andrade should have been drafted by WWE Raw
James is currently out with an injury, but she will make her way back to the roster soon enough. And when she does, wrestling fans will hope that she gets another crack at Raw Women’s Champion Asuka after their last match was cut short.
Andrade staying on Raw makes sense, and that move will keep him with Charlotte Flair, who was a first-round pick on the second night of the draft. There were some fans wondering if Andrade could be moving to NXT, but that exciting possibility of a Black and Gold brand return doesn’t seem to be in the cards, based on the reliable PW Insider’s report.
James is the more likely of the two to win a title in the next year before a 2021 draft, but it would be nice to see Andrade become a bigger part of the show. Both of these wrestlers are extremely talented, and it’s a surprise they will go under-the-radar and have to sign with the Red Brand as undrafted free agents.
