On the most recent episode of WWE Raw, Braun Strowman defeated Keith Lee, making it the first time the Limitless One was pinned on the Red Brand.

Braun Strowman was brutalized on the most recent episode of SmackDown, taken down with ease by Universal Champion Roman Reigns to nobody’s surprise. But on WWE Raw, Strowman got his win back by pinning Keith Lee, who was pinned in singles competition only one other time this year by Karrion Kross in an NXT Title match.

Lee didn’t lose clean, though. He lost after being hit by a low blow, but then a simple kick from Strowman led to the pinfall. So Strowman cheated to win, but he didn’t even need to hit the former double-champion this summer with his Running Powerslam finisher.

It was a disappointing end to the match. Most fans were looking forward to Lee picking up a decisive pinfall victory to continue his momentum, because he’s seen as a future WWE Champion, with his crowning moment potentially coming at WrestleMania 37. After all, he pinned Randy Orton – the current rival for Drew McIntyre’s world title – at Payback in his main roster Pay Per View debut singles match.

There are silver linings to Keith Lee being pinned by Braun Strowman on WWE Raw this week

Lee, a standout at last year’s Survivor Series, being pinned did not sit well with many fans, even if they wanted WWE to avoid another DQ finish with this match. Their earlier match on WWE Raw, of course, had ended by disqualification.

Yet there are three silver linings to Lee being pinned. Firstly, the burden of never being pinned is off of him, because, yes, it can seem more like a burden than a positive sometimes. Secondly, losing to a former Universal Champion in Strowman via a low blow is not a disgraceful loss for a babyface to take. And thirdly, Lee could score some much, much bigger wins now that Braun has scored a win after getting destroying by Reigns on SmackDown.

After the way Strowman beat Lee, that means we are going to get more matches between these two, which should showcase Lee’s talent a lot more. And those subsequent victories would do a lot more for Lee than a one-off win over Strowman. At least, that’s what I hope. I do have reason for this hope, because Lee screamed at Braun that he would show him the “Dragon” to counter his “Monster”, and that has left me very excited for a new layer to Lee’s WWE Raw character.
