Alexa Bliss and Bray Wyatt are becoming the weekly highlight of WWE Raw, but are they villainous or just a different flavor of hero?

The WWE Championship scene on Monday nights feels so much more interesting with all the moving parts that have resulted from Bray Wyatt and Alexa Bliss’ move to Raw, as well as The Miz’s Money in the Bank briefcase victory over Otis at Hell in a Cell.

Randy Orton has a huge target on his back as champion. The Miz is, of course, going after him, but so is McIntyre, who still wants to claim the title as his own. And Orton also has to watch out for Wyatt, because the Fiend hasn’t forgiven him for betraying the Wyatt Family and burning the Wyatt Family Compound before WrestleMania 33. The Fiend probably has no love lost for Miz either, and McIntyre is the Fiend’s enemy by default due to his overprotectiveness of the WWE Championship.

The Miz and Orton are clearly heels. McIntyre still seems like a babyface, but he’s been acting a little selfish in his pursuit of the title, holding back other wrestlers from getting their shot at the championship.

So where does that leave Wyatt and Bliss?

WWE reportedly sees Alexa Bliss and Bray Wyatt as babyfaces

It seems like these two characters, who are basically a part of a cult with a fake kid’ television show, should definitely be heels. But at the same time, they are very likable, they are going after a clear heel in Orton, and they are justified in their pursuit of Orton. Wyatt was traumatized by Orton’s betrayal of him and the burning of the family compound.

According to PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson, WWE internally believes that Alexa Bliss and Bray Wyatt are babyfaces on Raw. And the opinion of the people booking the show, of course, matters the most.

It also makes sense for Bliss and Wyatt to be faces. Not only can we see the justification and reasoning behind their targeting of Orton, who is not sympathetic in the least for his heinous deeds over the past several months, but it’s just impossible not to root for Wyatt and Bliss right now. They work perfectly together and are just so damn good at what they do. How can you not like how innovative and genuinely funny they are?

Now the real topic of discussion isn’t whether Wyatt and Bliss are babyfaces, since that is becoming clearer to most wrestling fans. The real question is if Wyatt will win the WWE Championship or if WWE will think twice about putting the title on him again, since it ends up constraining his character.

And then the corollary to that question is, what about Bliss and her title aspirations? She hasn’t gone after a world title in quite some time, but that could change on the Red Brand in the future. For now, though, it seems like Wyatt and Bliss are content to work on their current plan, which is getting revenge on Orton by costing him the world title.
