Asuka vs. Sasha Banks [Women’s Champions Brand War]

Mark Justice: As mentioned in her promo with Bayley two weeks ago, Sasha Banks needed to prove that she can defend her championship on her first title defense (which she did) AND needs to prove that she can defeat Asuka without Bayley’s help. The following past instances in 2020 alone indicate that Banks always needed Bayley’s help to defeat Asuka.

When Banks defeated Asuka at WWE Extreme Rules 2020, it was because Bayley acted as the referee in what was a controversial finish. When Banks officially dethroned Asuka on the Raw a week after Extreme Rules, it was because Bayley distracted Asuka into a countout loss by attacking Kairi Sane backstage.

Controversial and inconclusive finishes, such as referee fraud and countouts, are not decisive enough, especially when done nefariously. It also did not make things any better once Banks lost the title to Asuka at SummerSlam in what was her first title defense. There is honestly no compelling argument as to why Asuka would go over here.

Now that Banks is no longer a heel, she needs to turn things around and win her big matches the right way: by pinfall or submission. That’s the best way to attain her redemption against Asuka from their SummerSlam bout and prove her superiority as champion on her way to battling the ‘untouchable’ Carmella at WWE TLC 2020.

Prediction: Sasha Banks (2-3)

Kevin Parvizi: Sasha Banks vs. Asuka can happen 100 times, and I would still be excited for it like it was their first match against each other. They are two pro wrestling geniuses. Strikes, selling, technical wrestling, storytelling, intensity, they are great at everything. Every match one of these wrestlers puts on feels like a big fight, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Asuka and Sasha just blow everyone else out of the water at Survivor Series.

With that said, you didn’t ask me to gush about Sasha and Asuka for the millionth time on this website. No, you asked me to help you make a prediction, and I’m here to tell you that we are both in agreement on Sasha Banks winning.

Sasha is the biggest star in WWE right now alongside SmackDown’s Men’s Champion Roman Reigns. And there’s an argument to be made that because of the Mandalorian, it is in WWE’s best interest to push her front and center on Friday nights.

She is winning this match, and I don’t have to think twice about it. But more importantly, everyone needs to make an effort to watch this match, since it’s going to be another special one. There’s something about Survivor Series title vs. title matches that can bring out the best in wrestlers.

Prediction: Sasha Banks (2-3)
