Watching Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa beat each other up is fun, but what if they joined forces to cause havoc to the rest of the tag team division?

WWE NXT TakeOver: War Games has come and gone, with the fallout set to start on Wednesday’s edition of NXT. At the PPV, Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher battled in a violent affair where Ciampa was able to come out on top after 16 minutes of action. The look on both men’s faces made it seem like this is not over, but perhaps that does not mean that they will continue to battle each other. Instead, there is a space for Ciampa and Thatcher to team up out of respect. Creating a team that would thoroughly enjoy causing bodily harm to the rest of the NXT tag team division.

The NXT tag team division was once filled with some of the best groups in the industry. DIY, American Alpha, FTR and many others were there to fit it out over the tag team titles. That is no longer the case, as WWE has moved away from elevating tag team wrestling. That does not mean that there are not any intriguing team-ups that could occur. That is where Ciampa and Thatcher fit in.

As singles wrestlers, neither Ciampa nor Thatcher can get much of a singles push. Ciampa has already been at the top of the mountain, failing in recent bids to get back to that point. Thatcher came into NXT this past April to a lot of fanfare as a last-minute replacement for Pete Dunne. His run since then has been a bag of mixed results. He is picked up plenty of wins, but none of them have come against bigger name talent. Thatcher’s 50-50 booking has cooled off any fan push for him to have a big singles run. Therefore, he could benefit from being placed with Ciampa in a tag team.

Remember the Dusty Rhodes Classic? It was an avenue that presented tag team wrestler front and center within NXT. The timeframe it is held each year has shifted, with this most recent occurring back in January of this year. With a new year coming and NXT announcing NXT New Year’s Evil as a new event for 2021, expect the Dusty Rhodes Classic to come back as well. Ciampa and Thatcher should be a team that is a part of that mix.

Thatcher and Ciampa both enjoy hurting people. Viewers just watched them attempt to maim each other a few days ago. Imagine them taking that energy and focusing it on other duos standing across from them. They could put on some strong matches against the likes of Imperium, Grizzled Young Veterans, Killian Dain, and Drake Maverick, or even possibly the two members of the newly signed Rascalz.

With a new year coming in a few days, it is time to start doing something different within the WWE rather than giving fans the same thing over and over. Putting Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher together as a team and recharging the tag team division is a move that fans would enjoy. Especially at a time when there is not a lot to get excited about or interested in within the WWE.
