WWE Rumors: The only planned WrestleMania 37 match we can get behind

Which big matches are being planned for WWE WrestleMania 37? Chances are you won’t like at least one of them.

I have no idea why Vince McMahon insists that we like Goldberg. We *liked* Goldberg on occasion. Or maybe we just tolerated him. That match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33 after he had already unnecessarily won the title off Kevin Owens? Look, that should have been his send-off, not a repeat where he took the title off the Fiend.

Goldberg’s original WrestleMania 36 opponent was, of course, Roman Reigns and not Braun Strowman. Either way, we were glad to see the title off Goldberg.

But now, it looks like Vince wants to do Goldberg vs. Reigns at WrestleMania 37.

According to a report from WrestleVotes, there are three matches WWE is considering for next year’s Show of Shows. Edge vs. Randy Orton is unsurprisingly on the list. Goldberg vs. Reigns is another one. And finally, Keith Lee vs. Brock Lesnar vs. Drew McIntyre is on the list.

The caveat to this report is in the tweet itself. Nothing is “close to official” or even “concrete”, so we don’t need to get too mad.

But I’m a wrestling fan on the Internet who types words, so I’m just going to say it. We don’t want to see Goldberg vs. Reigns. Now Reigns vs. Big E? Reigns vs. The Rock? Or Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan? Those all sound fantastic to me. But Reigns carrying a past-his-prime wrestler who was never actually good in the first place? That’s going to be even worse than Roman vs. ‘Taker.

Now for the other rumored matches. Edge vs. Orton should be a nice way to close the trilogy, and I think most of us are expecting that match. But to be honest, it doesn’t excite me. I’m sure I’ll find a way to enjoy the match, but if they could find something else for both of them to do, I would be more interested. And I really don’t think we need that match to be a WWE Title match.

Which is precisely why I’m the most interested in that Triple Threat match floated around. I’ve been expecting to see build to Drew McIntyre vs. Keith Lee, as that became an obvious WrestleMania 37 match after McIntyre’s constant interferences in Lee’s matches.

Lee defeating McIntyre and Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania would be quite the moment for the former double-champion. I think we’re all prepared to see a big push for Lee, who is the total package in terms of what WWE wants in a world champion.

Lesnar’s involvement, as WrestleVotes seems to imply, depends on fans, and I’m not optimistic that we’ll be in a safe enough situation for fans. But you never know. Either way, Lesnar vs. McIntyre vs. Lee is a match I would love to see at WrestleMania 37. It’s a whole lot more exciting than watching Goldberg fumble around or Edge and Orton take up an hour of the card.
