Charlotte returned as Asuka’s mystery partner. Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax took control of Asuka early on in the match, teasing a hot tag for Charlotte Flair. Asuka tagged Charlotte Flair. Charlotte delivered Knife Edge Chops to Nia Jax and Gutwrench Suplex to Baszler. Asuka delivered a Swift Kick to Baszler off the apron and Charlotte delivered the Moonsault to both Jax and Baszler outside the ring. Charlotte tagged Asuka after Jax delivered a Samoan Drop to Charlotte.
Asuka delivered a Missile Dropkick to Jax. Jax tagged Baszler, who locked a Kirifuda Clutch to Asuka. Charlotte Flair tagged in to break up the submission. She delivered a Big Boot to Jax and a Figure 8 to Baszler. Jax broke up the submission. Asuka delivered a Flying Crossbody to Jax on the outside to stop her. Baszler locked in the Kirifuda Clutch on Charlotte Flair to make her tap, but Charlotte countered the hold into the Natural Selection for the pinfall and the victory.
The big return from Charlotte made this match special. It was unfortunate that Lana was not able to get her spotlight. However, it is clear that Charlotte will be Asuka’s WrestleMania 37 opponent and this was a way of setting up a WrestleMania 34 rematch, in which Asuka can redeem herself against the superstar who ended her streak three years ago. Asuka has never won a match at WrestleMania, so a WrestleMania moment should be in store for her on the Show of Shows.
