The New Year is right ahead of us and here are some predictions for what fans can see in 2021.

WWE was meet with several challenges in 2020 that will be remembered. Many of those challenges were due to this ongoing pandemic. Even that did not stop WWE from operating as the promotion continued holding shows as the rest of the sports and entertainment industries were shuttered. The COVID-19 pandemic impacted the wrestling industry in ways that are still to come, but the WWE continued to find new ways to operate and drive record revenue numbers. 2020 is hours away from coming to a close so it is a perfect time to make some predictions for what could come in 2021.

WrestleMania 37 Could be The First WWE Show With a Crowd

WrestleMania 36 took place at the Performance Center earlier this year. And since then, only NXT has had a small crowd. The only semblance of a crowd on WWE Raw and Smackdown that we had, is the Thunderdome virtual crowd. I can potentially see a small social distanced crowd at WrestleMania 37. The United States government is working to get vaccines distributed which will potentially encourage organizations to consider allowing crowds. I can see WWE taking on the approach because there is no way that WWE would go two straight WrestleManias without an audience. The focus must be on the safety of everyone in attendance but expect for Vince McMahon to look for ways to pull this moment off while the world watches.

Undisputed Era Called Up to Smackdown

When it comes to making debuts on the main roster, WWE has had some hits and misses. There is a way to debut Undisputed Era on the main roster as Smackdown Superstars. And that way is, the Smackdown after WrestleMania as all the members of Undisputed Era make their presence known in the first segment of the night. This could add in fresh new faces for the brand. The other question that would cross my mind, is if every member would actually get called up. WWE has a history calling up stables and tag teams without the key member attached to them. The thought of Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, and Rodderick Strong being on Smackdown while Kyle O’Riley stays on NXT could upset the fans since WWE did this with Sanity, and Enzo and Big Cass.

A WWE Network Documentary Focusing on CM Punk’s 2014-2019

When CM Punk returned on WWE Backstage on FOX in 2019, it was a total surprise. Even though he worked for FOX, it can potentially open the doors for him to return to WWE. But he does not have to have matches on WWE television. A new WWE Network documentary featuring CM Punk would be interesting as it can cover from the time he left WWE, to his recent run on WWE Backstage. WWE Network documentaries give us never before told stories of their superstars. The relationship between WWE and CM Punk during the late 2010s has not been good. However, his story toward the end of the WWE and even including the UFC would be an interesting documentary that fans would want to see.

The Bella Twins Will Return for One Tag Team Match

When the WWE Women’s tag team division was announced, excitement rightly followed. Unfortunately, the titles haven’t been leveraged as they should, but there’s still an opportunity to fix this mistake. Perhaps a small step is bringing back two of the most popular women to compete in Nikki and Brie Bella. Since both of The Bella Twins recently delivered their babies, there could be a potential short run with both Nikki and Brie Bella becoming a tag team to help enhance that division. Sure, Sasha Banks and Bayley and The Kabuki Warriors had great runs with the Women’s Tag Team Championship, but I feel that The Bella Twins can be in the conversation of a women’s tag team that can have a program with the women’s roster in this state. The Bella Twins recently tweeted a response towards WWE about the Women’s Tag Team championship. This would be good for the division if this happens in 2021.

Big E Will have a Universal Championship Match

When Big E was split from the New Day in the WWE Draft, I knew that they did this for one reason. That is for the start of his major singles run. He is the current Intercontinental Champion and the anticipation for this run is higher than the other single title reigns that came before. I can totally see Big E having a Universal Championship match against Roman Reigns in 2021. Big E is someone that you would want to represent WWE and Big E connects with the fans on screen, and on social media. This is something that fans of Big E organically want and 2021 is looking very bright for Big E!

With a new 365 days coming to professional wrestling, these are some of the ideas that stand out as predictions for 2021.
