Xavier Woods should get a chance to taste some singles success

The WWE Universe was ecstatic when rumors began swirling last fall about a potential Big E solo push. The powerhouse of The New Day has all the tools to be a main event player and fans were excited to see him finally get his due. I don’t believe many people thought splitting up The New Day was the best way to go about it, but nevertheless, at the end of 2020 Big E was standing tall as the new Intercontinental Champion.

Big E’s New Day brethren meanwhile, ended the year on a bit of a down note. Their historic 10th tag title reign came to an end when they lost the belts to The Hurt Business at TLC. With the lack of established tag teams on the Red Brand, Kofi and Woods seemed destined to battle it out with Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin for the foreseeable future. At this stage in the game for the New Day though, why not break some new ground?

The group has already been separated. They haven’t broken up mind you, they’re just on different shows. So keep them away from the tag title scene until they can reunite and give all three members the chance to live out some singles success – especially Xavier Woods.

Since returning from an Achilles injury that kept him out of action for most of 2020, Xavier Woods has flat out been crushing it. He’s always been money in the entertainment department, but since he’s been back he’s been reminding folks just how good he is in the ring. I would love it, genuinely relish the opportunity to see what he could do as the United States Champion. If The New Day is going to continue this feud with The Hurt Business, why not exchange more than just the tag titles?

Getting the belt off Bobby Lashley is no easy task, but there are ways to do it while keeping him looking strong. It would also open up Bobby Lashley for another shot at the top prize in the company. I’d be more than happy with Lashley and Drew McIntyre running it back one more time.

If singles gold isn’t in the cards for Xavier Woods, then I beg you WWE… bring back the King of the Ring and give that man his crown! This is something that Woods has been dreaming of for 30+ years now. It’s long past due to retire King Corbin. In 2021, let us all bend the knee and honor our new King – Xavier Woods.
