WWE Royal Rumble 2021: Five Possible Men’s Rumble Winners
3… 2.. 1… BEEP! It is finally Royal Rumble time again in WWE! The excitement is already in the air as we start the road to WrestleMania.
It is almost time for one of the most beloved pay-per-views in WWE. It is Royal Rumble season again! This is personally my favorite pay-per-view of the year and I am already excited. Despite this Royal Rumble looking to be the first in the Thunderdome, I expect the 2021 Royal Rumble to provide two memorable rumble matches.
We are only beginning the road to WrestleMania 37 but the two Royal Rumble matches are beginning to be filled. Only two men and two women have declared for the rumble matches so far. At this point, the match is still up in the air, let alone the winners. However, that is where we get to have a little bit of fun.
We are here to predict five possible winners of the men’s Royal Rumble match. While there are many superstars that are deserving of winning the Rumble match, these are the five men that are most likely in my mind. 2020 has been a standout year for all five of these competitors. However, could 2021 be the year for one of these five?
5. Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins is currently scheduled to return on SmackDown. However, reports have said that Rollins’s return could be postponed. Despite that, when Rollins does return, I am expecting him to join the others who have declared for the 2021 Royal Rumble match. It will be interesting how Seth is booked moving forward. For the past year, Rollins has become one of the most hated men on the roster.
He did tremendous work in his feud with the Mysterio family. He was easy to hate and became one of the top heels. Although, WWE will always remember that Seth Rollins once was the top babyface in the company. Now that his former Shield brethren Roman Reigns has shown dominance as the top heel on SmackDown, it may be time for a change.
Seth could use the birth of his child and his time away from the company to find out the true “greater good.” Rollins could still be the “messiah” of WWE, but use it for good. Rollins could win the Royal Rumble to lead to Rollins versus Reigns at WrestleMania 37. A match between two men that we have seen but never between these two new personas.
4. “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt
The current whereabouts of “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt is unknown since being burned alive at Tables, Ladders, and Chairs. Randy Orton has claimed that he has sent The Fiend back to hell where he belongs. However, Randy maybe just wishing that he has banished The Fiend. The signs of The Fiend are still appearing. How long until The Fiend is asking to be let in again?
January 31st could be the date that The Fiend decides to return. He would instantly be a favorite to win the match if Bray Wyatt returns in the Royal Rumble. Like many other fans, I am excited to see what happens when The Fiend returns. Will we see a different version of The Fiend than we have seen so far? This has a ton of potential if booked correctly.
“The Fiend” Bray Wyatt would be a well-deserving choice to win the Royal Rumble. However, it seems that his story with Randy Orton isn’t over just yet. Perhaps Randy or Fiend will cost each other in a match that only a few years ago the two worked together in to prevail Randy Orton to win the match. WWE is no stranger to redoing matches and if done right Wyatt and Orton can run to WrestleMania.
3. Jey Uso
They say that history has a tendency to repeat itself. If Jey Uso could win the 2021 Royal Rumble, we could see 2005 repeat itself. Back in 2005 when Batista won the Royal Rumble match, Triple H tried to persuade him to go to SmackDown and challenge for the WWE Championship. Roman Reigns would likely push his cousin to go to Raw and challenge their world champion.
Roman would push the idea of helping out the family name by dominating both brands in WWE. However, if Jey is able to win the rumble, this would be his opportunity to have one more match against his cousin. This could really be a sweet moment if WWE booked it correctly. Jey has been tremendous in late 2020 and can hold his own in the main event scene.
With the help of his brother Jimmy and possibly more of the Anoa’i family, Jey Uso beating Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship would become a historic WrestleMania moment. Reports say that Jimmy Uso will be cleared soon. That could mean the end of Jey Uso’s singles run, but I am hoping that WWE officials have seen what Jey is worth alone.
2. Keith Lee
2020 has been a standout year for many talents but it was one of the biggest years for Keith Lee. He started out the year by becoming the first-ever man to hold the NXT Championship and NXT North American Championship at the same time. He finished off his year by defeating Sheamus to earn a WWE Championship opportunity.
2021 is set to start off in a big way for Keith as he receives his first WWE Championship opportunity. While I am expecting Sheamus to get involved in some way and Drew to retain, I don’t expect this to be Keith’s only shot at the WWE Championship. There is always the chance that Keith Lee is the man to win the Royal Rumble and earn another shot at Drew McIntyre.
Keith certainly has the size on his side in a match like a rumble. He will be one of the toughest people to get out of the match if anybody is able to do so. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw Keith Lee standing tall on January 31st. Keith Lee enjoys making history and this would be a huge moment in history if Lee could win.
1. Daniel Bryan
If I was a betting man, I would have to place a bet on Daniel Bryan. He continues to be one of the most beloved superstars in the company. Since returning after the WWE draft, Daniel has been a thorn in the side of Roman Reigns. However, he only did this to himself by having Jey Uso attack Bryan. Now, Bryan is looking for revenge and a determined Daniel Bryan can be horrifying.
Daniel was the first person announced for this year’s rumble match and has already become a favorite to win. Fans have been rallying for Daniel to win the rumble match for years and 2021 could finally be his year to do so. If WWE is looking for somebody with star power to face Roman, you don’t have to look further than Daniel Bryan.
However, Daniel Bryan has already had a huge WrestleMania moment at WrestleMania 30. If Daniel Bryan is the man to move to WrestleMania 37, I believe that Roman Reigns will be the one to leave still as the Universal Champion. Despite that, a WrestleMania match between Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns would be fantastic. This is another match we’ve seen but never like this.
Universal Champion “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns and WWE Champion Drew McIntyre will go to war with whoever will face them at WrestleMania 37. We are just looking forward to finding out against who.
